The folks behind the "Lez Hang Out" podcast are bringing you a star-studded podcast musical

If the last 9 months in Covid quarantine have taught us anything, it's how to get creative. Broadway has been dark since the spring, with likely another 6-12 months to pass without actors treading the boards again, but performers have been finding a way to bring theatre, music, and dance to audiences virtually. With that in mind, Leigh Holmes Foster and Ellie Brigida, hosts of the popular queer podcast Lez Hang Out, have teamed up on a new project. The duo teamed up with book writer Caitlyn Clear and executiuve producer Valerie Rose Lohman to create The Flame, an eight episode podcast musical event in summer 2021.

According to The Flame team, the musical is about "Jamie, a queer bar owner, and Sam, the woman selling the building the bar inhabits, and the inevitable sparks that end up flying between them! With the help of her best friend, Heather, and bar regular Jo, can the residents of The Flame keep the bar alive? Or can Sam’s friend Mel help her work through her complicated feelings about her father’s death and the building she grew up in before she makes a rash decision?"

Brigida will be playing the lead role of Jamie, and is joined by a couple of Broadway big-timers, television and voice stars. Award-winning actress Jenn Colella will be playing the role of Jo, Beautiful star Chilina Kennedy as Rachel, The Leftovers' Jasmin Savoy Brown as Sam, Venice the Series' Harrison White, and The Sparrow Archives' Jesse Nowak. Holmes Foster and Lohman also appear as supporting characters, Heather and Mel.

The Flame is currently crowdfunding and trying to raise the $26K it will take to make this musical a reality. If you love musicals and want to support queer creators and performers, then check out The Flame. Send a little tip! You never know who might show up in the musical. ;)
