With "Life is Strange: True Colors" the beloved graphic adventure game returns with a new twist

The Life is Strange series, both the original from DontNod Studios and the prequels from Deck Nine, have been game-changers when it comes to video game storytelling. The stories of teens Max, Chloe, and Rachel anchored those games with equal parts tension and tenderness. Deck Nine just announced that a new game, with new characters would be coming to your favorite gaming systems this September. Like Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm, the new game Life is Strange: True Colors is centered on another young woman. Alex Chen (voiced by Erika Mori) and her older brother Gabe have been separated for years after bouncing around the foster system. When she finally reunites with Gabe in the town of Haven Springs, their time together is short-lived. Gabe is killed in a suspicious accident and Alex aims to find out the truth about what happened to him. Alex is an empath and her powers only become stronger throughout the game, threatening to overwhelm her as she realizes the people of Haven Springs have a lot to hide about what happened to Gabe.
Along the way, Alex meets two new friends who will help her on her mission: Steph (who you may remember as the tabletop gamer with a crush on Chloe) and Ryan. Both are romanceable options, carrying on the inclusive romance feature of the original Life is Strange (Team Bae over Bay!) and Before the Storm.
Life is Strange: True Colors is available for all gaming systems on September 10th.
